Class Structure

Our English Literacy program is designed for students in Grades 1 to 6 and is taught in a small group setting. We believe in targeting individual students' needs, so our classes are structured to provide personalized instruction to each student.

Each unit focuses on a specific theme that allows our students to feel represented in their readings. We carefully select authentic texts that feature diverse lived experiences, written by authors from a range of backgrounds and cultures.

Our standard curriculum covers important areas such as reading comprehension, vocabulary building, phonics/spelling, fluency in reading, grammar, and writing

Teaching English Through Reading Various Texts

Phi Education

At our English Literacy program, we teach English through reading various texts. We believe that reading is the foundation of literacy, and by reading a variety of texts, students can develop a love of learning and an understanding of the world around them.

We closely read texts for deeper meaning and encourage our students to respond to texts using text evidence. Additionally, we provide opportunities for students to conduct research, build knowledge, and share their knowledge with others.

By reading a variety of texts, our students can improve their foundational reading skills, phonics/word analysis, fluency, and vocabulary. They can also develop the ability to compare texts and analyze them critically.

Read About It, Write About It

Phi Education

In our English Literacy program, we cover important areas such as narrative writing, argumentative writing, expository writing, handwriting, following conventions, and creating and collaborating.

We teach writing by analyzing mentor texts and student models. We help our students understand the purpose and audience for their writing, and we encourage them to plan their writing using sources as needed.

We also provide opportunities for students to discuss with peers and teachers, evaluate their work against a rubric, and improve their writing continuously. By sharing their writing, students can develop their communication skills and build confidence in their ability to express themselves effectively.

What Will the Students Learn?

Phi Education

In our English Literacy Program, student will learn how to analyze and compare texts, conduct research, and build knowledge. Through our writing instruction, students will learn how to communicate effectively, write for different purposes and audiences, and improve their writing continuously.

Overall, we will provide students with the tools they need to become confident, competent readers and writers. We believe in personalized instruction, engaging literature, and a skills-based approach that empowers our students to succeed.
